Manchester United have strengthened their long-term attacking options by confirming the signing of Tottenham winger Tynan Thompson, in a deal reported to be worth around £8 million.
According to the Daily Mail, the transfer is structured as an initial £4 million fee, with a further £4 million payable through performance-related bonuses, while Tottenham have also negotiated a 20% sell-on clause. United have not disclosed the financial terms publicly.
Thompson leaves Tottenham after six years at the club’s academy, having arrived at just 12 years old. Announcing the deal, United described the England youth international as an exciting addition to their ranks, confirming the move is subject to registration formalities. The club also highlighted his output last season, 13 goals and six assists across various youth levels, and welcomed him ahead of the next stage of his career.
The teenager’s performances for Spurs’ junior sides earned him a place in the club’s first-team matchday squad on several occasions, including as an unused substitute in two Champions League fixtures, a sign he was already viewed as close to first-team readiness.
Thompson’s arrival continues a busy period of recruitment at Old Trafford, following the club’s earlier deals for Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos, and experienced goalkeeper Karl Darlow. His signing points to a deliberate push to sharpen the quality of United’s development pathway while giving head coach Michael Carrick more attacking versatility to work with.
