Soldiers from Sector 1 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have apprehended a suspected terrorist during a security operation carried out in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
Security sources familiar with the operation said the arrest was made around 9:00 a.m. on July 18, by troops operating from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) stationed in Otukpo.
The operation was carried out in Amula community, part of a broader military push to rid the area of criminal elements and dismantle any hideouts being used by armed groups operating in the region.
The suspect is now in military custody and is being questioned as part of preliminary investigations to establish his identity and determine whether he has ties to any armed groups active in the state.
Military officials say troops will continue offensive operations and intelligence-led patrols across Benue State, aimed at restricting the movement of armed groups and improving security in communities that remain vulnerable to attacks.
